Old Lady gives Mandy a slap………

images4 Whew! Managed to resist writing ‘Old Lady gives Queen a slap’……far too misleading!

The Old Lady in question is of course the Bank of England – growing tired of shouldering all the blame, she slapped the young upstart back into line. Delicious!

The Bank of England rebuked business minister Peter Mandelson in a statement on Thursday after he said the central bank was dragging its feet on help for Britain’s struggling car industry.

Mandelson said late on Wednesday that he wished that the Bank would be quicker in coming to the aid of car companies’ financing arms, an unusual intervention given the central bank is meant to be independent of government.

“The Bank of England is puzzled by Lord Mandelson’s comments yesterday,” it said in a statement. “It is not the role of the Bank to provide sector-specific support. That is clearly and properly a matter for the Government.”

The Bank of England is quite right to say this.

Whole communities dissolved under Margaret Thatcher. Children went without food and walked to school in somebody ele’s shoes.

Nobody helped uneconomic industry in those days.

Why should we start doing it now?

The car industry workers will be fine living in poverty and taking anti-depressants for the rest of their lives.

The Government should have kept the car industry going and nationalised the banks!

I would rather have a sea of surplus cars than Bentley-driving bankers dumping their cars at the airport whilst they fuck off to Barbados.

I don’t know about financing car companies arms, how about financing my hands around his bloody neck…????

Yeah Blink! I would finance this.

Forgot to say that Mandy has a face like a slapped arse.

The car company workers could use their skills to provide energy-efficient products for heating and lighting.

Or alternatively …………. they could use their skills to make all the ammunition that the police are going to need whilst the Armed Forces are engaged in battles in foreign countries that they cannot win because they do not understand the very reasons that the people in those countries are actually fighting.
